As Pride Month comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the identities and allyship we’re proud to support at Nexus Studios. In a climate where LGBTQIA+ rights are increasingly under pressure, it’s so important that we recognise these moments and continue to push to create inclusive environments.

This year, we invited the Nexus Studios team to help celebrate the full spectrum of the Progress Pride Flag. We invited artists to choose a colour on the flag and create an illustration or short animation in response to it. Some took cues from the colours’ official meaning, a personal reflection, or somewhere in between.

We love the results. From themes of healing to nature, serenity to joy, here’s how artists answered the brief.

Bethany Levy, 2D Lead
Orange

I was particularly drawn to the colour Orange for this brief – and it’s association to Healing, I wanted the image to feel like a big warm embrace from a loving community.

There are a few plasters spotted here and there, a couple of tears being shed, but overall it is an explosion of empathy, support, joy and celebration.

And what better way to represent that than with delicious, squishy little shiny balls 🧡

Green

I bought this tiny little succulent plant back in 2019, and there have been so many times I’ve forgotten to water it, then tried to overcompensate by drowning it, strangled it in a pot too small to grow, not changed the soil for years at a time. And yet despite the hardships, it’s so incredibly determined to live, it has split off into so many plants now that I don’t know which is the oldest generation and which is new. I think it’s a nice representation of the resilience of nature, from a broken leaf a whole new plant can bloom.

Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple

The colors of the flag were an invitation to explore the History of Pride from a fight for freedom to healing embrace of love and acceptance. Highlighting tenderness between individuals to then bring the community together in a great celebration

I want us to remember that pride is a fight as much as a celebration, our rights were hard earned throughout history and are fragile, it’s our duty to protect them and fight for those whose rights are still under attack. That said there is so much love and joy and strength in this community, Pride is about bringing our individual stories together and uplifting each other and I wanted to honor the plurality of our community through these animations

Dylan White, 2D Lead
Purple

A loving homage to Keith Haring, his wit, his handstyle, his restless vibes and his absence. For every 80s kid who grew up drawing and listening to dance music, his spirit is with us every day 💜

Mélanie Climent, Art Director
Blue

I chose blue because of its duality, in being deeply peaceful, and simultaneously so bold and vibrant, almost electric. Comforting and thrilling at the same time. Quite close to the feeling of love, deep, calm, and so powerfully moving.

For the flower, it is the idea of blooming proudly into something beautiful and most of all singular. Like revealing your inner self, and embracing its uniqueness. This is to celebrate the beauty in every individual.

Our Commitment to Pride and Beyond

At Nexus Studios, we believe that inclusion is fundamental to creativity. We’re committed to nurturing a workplace where individuality is respected and self-expression is supported.

As part of our ongoing DE&I efforts, we collaborate with partner organisations to help shape a more representative industry, and we provide the infrastructure for our team to actively contribute to causes they care about.
Pride is a celebration, but it’s also a moment to recommit to the values it represents and to continue fostering an inclusive space where everyone is heard and seen.
