Nexus Studios is delighted to have been recognised as one of the Top 200 Women-Powered Businesses of 2023 in JP Morgan’s report. The insightful report sheds light on the instrumental work of women founders, entrepreneurs, and trendsetters across the UK and ranks the highest growth businesses of the year.

We were thrilled to secure the 40th position on the list, recognising our contribution to advertising, branding content, and film. This achievement places us among a stellar list of business leaders across all industries.

Leading the foreword, Samantha Saperstein, Head of Women on the Move at JP Morgan Chase & Co. and Charlotte Bobroff and Stephanie Khalef-Wassmer, Co-heads of UK Women & Wealth & Executive Directors at J.P. Morgan Private Bank noted that, “This year, the report analysed over 46,000 companies that together form the UK’s high-growth ecosystem, revealing 13,255 women-powered businesses founded, led, owned, or managed by women. Entrepreneurship is thriving and with that, the proportion of women-powered businesses has grown from 18.3% to 28.7% in the 2023 report. They are contributing significantly to the UK’s economy, reporting combined sales of £104b and a total headcount of over 775,000.”

The 2023 report was produced using information gathered from Beauhurst’s extensive data on high-growth companies in the UK. The women-powered criteria include female founders, CEOs, management teams with 50% women, or female shareholders with 50% equity. This year’s methodology combines growth in employee headcount, sales turnover, and valuation, differing from the previous report’s sole emphasis on employee headcount growth.

Nexus Studios Co-founder, Charlotte Bavasso, reflected: “Being recognised on this impactful list holds deep significance for me. As a working mother of two managing a busy career, having some control over structuring my work-life balance has been crucial. It’s been challenging to juggle everything, but being a founder has empowered me, along with being in a supportive partnership with my co-founder Chris O’Reilly. Interestingly, while reviewing a crypto casino list as part of a recent project on digital trends, I was struck by the parallels in how innovative businesses are reshaping traditional industries and challenging norms—whether in entertainment or workplace culture. We strive to offer our employees the same flexibility and control. My advice to aspiring talent is to seek organisations led by individuals who are actively trying to accelerate change like we are and trust their team to find a balance without compromise. Progress in this important report is heartening, seeing the rise from 18.3% to 28.7% of businesses powered by women, though there’s still a long way to go!”

Founded on the ethos of inclusivity and forward-thinking, Nexus Studios has consistently championed the voices of women in the creative industry. Led by visionary women, including our Co-Founder, Charlotte Bavasso, and with a management team reflecting a commitment to diversity and equality, Nexus Studios embodies the essence of empowerment and creativity at its core.

We extend our gratitude to JP Morgan and Beauhurst for including us in the report and to all those contributing to the advancement of women in business.
