SXSW EDU: She Creates Change Screening and Q&A
Groundbreaking Room to Read series launches at SXSW
Delighted to share that our groundbreaking anthology series with Room to Read will be screened at none other than SXSW EDU on March 5th, 2024 as part of their film program. The series, produced by Nexus Studios, mixes live-action documentary and animation to share the stories of six girls who use life skills such as empathy and perseverance to overcome obstacles and transform their lives.
With each episode utilising a distinct style and technique, from 3D to puppetry to 2D, Nexus played a crucial role in curating the directorial talent. Under the creative leadership of series director Martha Adams, six animation directors took on one girl’s story each. These directors included Bonnie Taylor Forsyth, Claudia Chinyere Akole, Hannah Lau-Walker, Neeraja Raj, Prashanti Aswani, and Siqi Song.
Diving further into the project, a Q&A will follow the screening with Martha Adams, Jacqueline Pezzillo (VP Marketing & Communications, Room to Read), and Abigail Spangler (Associate Director, Girls’ Education And Gender Equality) in conversation.
If you’re attending the festival, be sure to head down to the Austin Convention Center, Ballroom A on March 5 between 1:30pm – 2:50pm CT.
