We are delighted to welcome the ‘Love Death + Robots’ director to our commercial roster. Emily Dean is an Asian-Australian writer, director, and artist living in LA. Her work on the Emmy Award-winning Netflix series, ‘Love Death + Robots’ made waves across the industry and earned her a much coveted, Annie Award. Emily’s previous work as story artist and visual consultant shaped blockbuster films such as ‘The Lego Batman Movie’, ‘The Lego Movie 2’, ‘Scoob’, ‘Hotel Artemis’ and the Oscar Award-winning ‘Hairlove’.

Emily’s journey in filmmaking began in rural Australia, where her passion for drawing and storytelling flourished from a young age. Her independent animated short film ‘Forget Me Not’ was inspired by her family’s experience with Alzheimer’s disease and earned her a nomination for Best Short Animation at the Australian Academy Awards. Emily’s talent extends beyond animation, as evidenced in her live-action sci-fi short film, ‘Andromeda’, which toured film festivals, including LA Shorts International Film Festival and was picked up by sci-fi streaming platform, Dust.

Emily on the announcement: “I’m so excited and honoured to be joining the incredible team at Nexus Studios. I’ve long been an admirer of their work and stellar roster of eclectic directors. I’m thrilled to be part of a creative community dedicated to doing high-level work with unique creative voices and pushing the medium of animation and filmmaking forward. Let’s make cool stuff!”
