Short Film
Après Papi
Sweet, bright and poignant, Après Papi is a 2024 BAFTA Student Award finalist set in a richly stylised 3D animated short that looked to the tactility of stop-motion puppetry for inspiration. Following Loup, an eight-year-old boy dealing with the grief of losing his grandfather, the film unfolds in a sunlit corner of Provence, where imagination and memory begin to blur.
Wordless and visually driven, Après Papi showcases expressive character animation and advanced 3D facial rigging as well as a playful sense of scale to evoke the world from a child’s perspective.
Winner of Best Student Project at SIGGRAPH 2024, the film is a masterclass in silent storytelling that captures the intimacy of childhood memory and the experience of saying goodbye.
