In the first ever development of its kind, visitors to 26 Forestry Commission England sites can take a leading role in the world famous children’s tale, The Gruffalo. Commissioned by Magic Light Pictures in partnership with Forestry Commission England, The Gruffalo Spotter augmented reality app invites families to follow a trail of clues, tracking footprints of their favourite characters from The Gruffalo.

Once families have spotted the characters, they’re brought to life in augmented reality using the Gruffalo Spotter app. Visitors can stand next to the characters and take photos as keepsakes using their phone or tablet, which can be shared via social media with the hashtag #GruffaloSpotters. The app takes family forest walks to new heights, encouraging children to get exploring, firing their imaginations and enabling them to have a unique forest experience.

The Gruffalo Spotter app is available for free on IOS, Android and Amazon.
