Le Bruit du Silence
Winner of the 2024 BAFTA Student Film Award for Animation, Le Bruit du Silence enjoys the depth of 3D while rendered like a charcoal sketch. This mixed media approach also included watercolour, hand-drawn texture, and plasticine stop-motion layered into a 3D world.
Exploring the weight of silence around sexual violence, the protagonist sits small and painterly against caricatured authority figures in saturated colour. Notably, live-action footage of a real performer’s eyes was scanned and mapped directly onto the protagonist’s 3D model.
The film has screened at 20+ international festivals, winning the First Student Prize at Chilemonos and the Grand Student Prize at Animakom.
