Nexus Studios collaborated with acclaimed director Daniel Kleinman and Rattling Stick to create the main title sequence for Shane Black’s new action heist thriller, Play Dirty starring Mark Wahlberg, LaKeith Stanfield and Rosa Salazar. Transforming the aesthetic of mid-century crime novels into a bold, cinematic experience, the titles set the tone for the film’s dark humour, high-stakes action, and pulpy intrigue.

Inspired by traditional crafts such as oil painting and halftone printing, the titles reference the tactile quality of 1940s-70s crime paperbacks, featuring visible brushstrokes, misaligned colours, and shifting paper textures. Circular motifs – such as gun barrels, bullet holes, halftone dots, and subway maps – fluidly evolve, intertwining themes of crime, consequence, and deception.
