What happens in the seconds, minutes and days after a nuclear blast?

This Emmy-nominated mixed-media film, created for The New York Times’ ‘At the Brink’ series, engages with one of the most urgent questions of our time, simultaneously making the destruction felt on a human scale and seen on a catastrophic one.

Blending 3D, 2D and archive footage, the film uses a deliberately economical visual language of simple shapes, bold colour, and stark silhouettes. The missile is kept as a simple outline; collaged live blast footage adds credibility and a striking tension between graphic restraint and visceral detail.
