“We pitched what is best described as an 8-bit epileptic eye-fight” says Shynola’s Richard Kenworthy of their title sequence for ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’. The Shynola style scratch film aims to convey what film character ‘Knives’ feels as she watches Scott Pilgrim’s band rehearse, aptly sets the tone for what is to come, and manages to reference the experimental films of Len Lye, Oskar Fischinger, Stan Brakhage and Norman McLaren in the process.
