Shynola created a bewitching and atmospheric title sequence for a brand new Sky show, “Small Town, Big Story”. Having worked with series creator, Chris O’Dowd on The IT Crowd titles, Shynola crafted a mesmerising title sequence, rich with Easter eggs, that subtly evolves across each of the six episodes.

Visually, the sequence embraces a folk-art style inspired by woodcut prints, reflecting the show’s theme of the extraordinary meeting the mundane. Scenes unfold in deep ‘day-for-night’ blues, creating a sense of quiet observation, as if unseen beings are scanning the town. Everyday objects, traffic cones, and skips are bathed in an eerie yet playful glow, hinting at the show’s mix of humour and mystery.

The main title was designed in the style of a hand-painted shop sign, an aesthetic close to O’Dowd’s heart, as his father was a signwriter. Its authenticity resonated so well that Sky adopted it across promotional materials.

Small Town, Big Story premiered on Sky and NOW on February 27, 2025, in the UK and Ireland.
