Siqi Song is an Oscar-nominated director and animator born in China and based in the US and is one of the most exciting new voices in the world of animation. Her rich, tactile and thought-provoking work is peppered with cultural insights and has been screened internationally at numerous film festivals including Sundance, SXSW, Annecy, Ottawa and more. Song studied at California Institute of the Arts and China Central Academy of Fine Arts and enjoys bringing important and personal themes to life within her work such as tradition, family and immigration. She is able to do so with charm and humour whilst being unafraid to touch upon sometimes painful and challenging truths.
Siqi was named a Film Independent Directing Fellow in 2018, a BAFTA Los Angeles Newcomer in 2019, and was nominated for an Oscar and an Annie Award for her short film SISTER in 2020.
