From adorning every frame of the BAFTA-winning Tokyo Olympics’ trail for the BBC with original artwork, creating a water-coloured cut-out of Pharrell Williams in a video fusing anime and video game sequences to building a vast mesmeric kaleidoscopic universe for the pop star and queen of kawaii, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu to collaborating with Takashi Murakami and the Urban Art Fair in Paris. Fantasista Utamaro is part of a new generation of young Japanese artists whose work explores the concepts of celebration, culture and freedom through a pop culture lens.
