Laurie Rowan

Colourful, fun, wobbly and satisfying… Laurie builds characters and worlds composed of their own logic that both delight and surprise in their originality. With a hint of the surreal, they embody Laurie’s sense of playfulness and joy

Director Laurie learnt the fundamentals of character animation working on a series for the Rose D’Or winning ‘Modern Toss’.  Since then he’s combined creativity and technology, animating for television and game design, working for clients including CBBC, British Museum, Sony and Channel 4. Laurie has filled his Instagram feed with his own world of “colourful, fun, wobbly and satisfying” characters which have amassed in excess of 840 million views and led to commissions with Droga 5, Collins and Liverpool’s FACT Gallery. Most recently, Laurie was chosen to headline Pictoplasma and, as part of their InterFaces exhibition, he created an immense holographic interactive character. His satirical piece to promote the Shots Awards Americas, saw him bring the ‘messy business of inspiration’ into his idiosyncratic surreal world.
